Beliefs Impact Your Workplace

This article explores a Gallup poll and shares what kind of impact your beliefs have upon your workplace.

Startlingly Evidence

When asked in a Gallup poll if their jobs excite them, 52% responded “no”. The poll finds of all full-time workers in America aren’t involved in, enthusiastic about, or committed to their jobs. Another 18% are “actively disengaged”, where they have gone beyond just checking out mentally, and could even be undermining colleagues’ accomplishments. Which leaves 30% of American workers “excited” about their jobs (F1)”.

Color Meaning

Our methodology contains positive color-meaning psychology with four colors representing the following characteristics in mind:

  1. Yellow – optimism, cheerful, enthusiasm, fun, good-natured, confidence, original, creative, challenging, and wisdom.

  2. Blue – loyalty, trust, integrity, responsibility, perseverance, caring, and concern, orderly, contemplative, peaceful, and calm.

  3. Red - energy, action, speed, attention-getting, assertiveness, confident, stimulating, exciting, powerful, passionate, driven, courageous, strong, spontaneous, determined.

  4. Green – growth, vitality, renewal, restoration, self-reliance, reliability, dependability, courteous, emotionally balanced and calm, adaptability, and a high moral sense.

Our Experience

In our experience, the number of excited workers (i.e., people employed working for companies) is much lower than the 30%, we guess under 20%. But, there is relevant and alarming news in the Gallup poll since they began tracking in 2000. It turns out the most significant predictors for a passionate workforce is the company and team size: where firms with ten or fewer employees and teams of five to nine, reported higher engagement.

Gallup further estimates actively unhappy workers cost the US $450 to $550 billion a year in high-absenteeism, turn-over, quality control issues, and lost productivity.

But, you all pretty much know this from your observations, personal experiences, and understanding. Some groups, teams, and companies are better at enrolling people into their belief systems, and others simply don’t get it yet, or worse still others haven’t realized their beliefs are bankrupt and no longer serve anyone effectively.

A Beginning

It all starts with you and your own beliefs about who you are, what you are capable of, and how you choose to act. It makes a difference when you understand clearly these items because you can gauge well where you wish to participate with your energies, efforts and produce the results you want. We contend if you begin living in your true purpose, you will be excited, more productive, and a contributor: you can even do this regardless of your employer.
